Back to School - So are the Nits
Hot season for head lice tends to fall around those key back to school times. While prevalent throughout the entire year there do seem to be more cases during the warmer months.
The back to school period in February / March are the biggest months of the year for head lice. While there is no such evidence to confirm that this is due to the warmer weather it does seem to make a difference.
Be prepared for back to school....
• Check your children’s hair regularly for head lice -
once a week is ideal.
• Educate kids on what head lice are and what to look out for
• Educate kids on what head lice are and what to look out for
• Discourage sharing of hats, hair bands and brushes.
• Tie long hair into a bun or plait.
Remember, head lice are not dangerous, nor are they a sign of poor hygiene – they are highly contagious. If your child does have a case of head lice then it will need to be treated with a head lice treatment or method of head lice removal.
