Back to School - So are the Nits
Hot season for head lice tends to fall around those key back to school times. While prevalent throughout the entire year there do seem to be more cases during the warmer months.
It is said that one in four Primary / Elementary School children carry head lice at any one time and a recent NitWits survey found that 95% of head lice infestations were picked up at school.
Be prepared for back to school....
• Check your children’s hair regularly for head lice. Once a week is ideal.
• Discourage sharing of hats, hair bands and brushes.
• Tie long hair into a bun or plait.
Remember, head lice are not dangerous, nor are they a sign of poor hygiene – they are highly contagious. If your child does have a case of head lice then it will need to be treated.
